Automatic Barrier Systems

An automatic barrier is an entry control system in which an arm attached to a motorised housing lifts from horizontal to vertical to allow vehicles through. Integrated with card access, number plate recognition and loop detectors, it manages authorised traffic quickly and safely at car parks, residential complexes, factories and office buildings.

What are Barrier Systems?

Barrier systems are the fastest and most cost-effective way to control traffic flow at busy vehicle entry and exit points. A brushless DC motor and encoder-equipped control board move the arm with soft start and stop, without vibration and at high cycle rates.

Safety is built in two layers: an underground loop detector senses the vehicle and prevents the arm from lowering onto it, while a photocell forms a second safety line. An LED-lit arm improves visibility at night, and traffic lights and audible warnings can be added as options.

The barriers integrate with card access (RFID/UHF), automatic number plate recognition (ANPR), remote controls, QR/ticket systems and car park payment software. Folding arms are available for low-ceiling indoor car parks and long-arm series for wide entrances.

Where are Barrier Systems used?

Barrier Systems are used in 6 different applications, including shopping mall and hospital car parks, residential complexes, factories and industrial zones, office buildings, logistics centres, public buildings. On every project, opening size, frequency of use and security requirements are assessed on site during the survey; the system is then made to measure and installed by our own crews.

Shopping mall and hospital car parks
Ticketed or paid car park entries and exits.
Residential complexes
Automatic access for residents’ vehicles via number plate recognition.
Factories and industrial zones
Controlled entry of staff and supplier vehicles.
Office buildings
Car park management integrated with card access.
Logistics centres
HGV and lorry access with long-arm barriers.
Public buildings
Entry control integrated with the security cabin.

How to choose the right barrier systems

A poorly chosen system means early failures, high energy costs or security gaps. Choosing the right barrier systems depends on opening size, daily frequency of use, security and insulation requirements, motor and automation type, and budget. Consider the points below when deciding; we finalise them together during the site survey.

  1. 1

    Entrance width

Lane width determines the arm length and series.

  2. 2

    Traffic volume

Busy entrances require a fast barrier with 100% duty cycle.

  3. 3

    Ceiling height

Indoor car parks require an articulated folding arm.

  4. 4

    Management system

Plan ANPR, card or payment infrastructure from the start.

How we work: from site survey to service

The process has four steps: free site survey, design and quotation, manufacturing and installation, and service. We send a price quote within 1 hour on average after your survey request. The approved system is made to measure at our facility in Tuzla, Istanbul, installed and commissioned by our own crews, and supported by scheduled maintenance and a 24/7 breakdown line.

  1. Site survey

Measurements are taken on site; usage intensity, electrical infrastructure and floor conditions are recorded.

  2. Design and quotation

Series, motor and accessories are selected; the quote is itemised and includes installation.

  3. Manufacturing and installation

Made to measure at our Tuzla facility and installed by our own installation crews.

  4. Service

Commissioning and user training, followed by scheduled maintenance and a 24/7 breakdown line.

Barrier Systems: frequently asked questions

If your question is not answered here, ask us by phone or on WhatsApp.

What is an automatic barrier?

An automatic barrier is an entry control system in which an arm attached to a motorised housing lifts to allow vehicles through. It works with card access, number plate recognition and loop detectors, and is used at car park, residential complex, factory and office entrances. Arm length, opening time and daily traffic volume determine the right model; Pack Door handles installation, card system integration and periodic maintenance as a single provider.

Can a barrier arm come down on a vehicle?

No. The arm does not lower while the underground loop detector and photocell detect a vehicle. This dual-layer safety prevents damage to both vehicle and arm. A rubber impact profile and LED light can also be fitted to the arm tip. During installation, loop detector sensitivity and photocell position are set for the vehicle types, and these safety devices are tested during periodic maintenance.

Can a barrier work with number plate recognition?

Yes, an automatic barrier works with an automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) camera that identifies authorised vehicles and raises the arm automatically. Entry and exit records are reported in the software, and time-limited permissions can be set for visitor vehicles. The system can also be managed from a single panel alongside card access, remote controls, loop detectors and property management software.

Does a barrier open during a power cut?

Yes, barriers with a battery unit continue to operate during a power cut and raise the arm automatically. Without a battery, the arm can be lifted by hand using the manual release key on the housing. A battery module is recommended at residential complex and car park entrances to keep traffic moving, and battery health and charge are checked during periodic maintenance.

Which barrier is suitable for an indoor car park?

Indoor car parks have low ceilings, so an articulated barrier whose arm folds in the middle as it opens is used. This stops the arm from hitting the ceiling or service pipes. Arm length, lane width and ceiling height are measured during the survey, and number plate recognition, loop detectors and card access can all be integrated with this model.
