Automatic and Manual Revolving Door Systems

A revolving door is an entrance system in which three or four wings rotate around a central shaft to let people through. Working on the “always open, always closed” principle, it blocks draughts between inside and outside, reducing heating and cooling losses, dust and noise while handling heavy pedestrian traffic without interruption.

What are Revolving Door Systems?

Revolving doors are the most effective solution for entrances where heavy pedestrian traffic and energy efficiency must be managed together. The door is always both open and closed, so no direct airflow forms between inside and outside, and wind, dust and noise stay out.

Automatic series detect approaching people with a sensor and rotate the wings at a constant, safe speed. Accessible slow-speed mode, break-out hardware that lets the wings fold in an emergency, night locking and air curtain integration are added according to the project.

We offer four series: standard, all-glass (crystal), high-capacity (Duo) and manual. Diameter, number of wings, canopy and glass type are determined by the entrance opening, façade detail and hourly pedestrian volume.

Where are Revolving Door Systems used?

Revolving Door Systems are used in 6 different applications, including shopping malls, hotel chains, hospitals, corporate headquarters, airports and terminals, banks and public buildings. On every project, opening size, frequency of use and security requirements are assessed on site during the survey; the system is then made to measure and installed by our own crews.

Shopping malls
Entry under heavy pedestrian traffic without energy loss.
Hotel chains
Prestige and comfort at lobby entrances.
Hospitals
Stretcher and wheelchair compatibility with the high-capacity series.
Corporate headquarters
All-glass revolving doors that reflect the corporate identity.
Airports and terminals
Wide-compartment series for passengers with luggage.
Banks and public buildings
Security and access control integration.

How to choose the right revolving door systems

A poorly chosen system means early failures, high energy costs or security gaps. Choosing the right revolving door systems depends on opening size, daily frequency of use, security and insulation requirements, motor and automation type, and budget. Consider the points below when deciding; we finalise them together during the site survey.

  1. 1

    Pedestrian volume

Hourly throughput determines the diameter and number of wings.

  2. 2

    Luggage / stretchers

The high-capacity Duo series is chosen for airports and hospitals.

  3. 3

    Architectural intent

The all-glass (crystal) series is recommended for prestige entrances.

  4. 4

    Budget

The cost-effective manual series suits medium-sized entrances.

Revolving Door Systems: frequently asked questions

If your question is not answered here, ask us by phone or on WhatsApp.

What is a revolving door?

A revolving door is an entrance system in which several wings rotate around a central axis to let people through. It reduces draughts between inside and outside, saving energy and adding prestige. It is widely used at hotel, office, hospital and shopping mall entrances. Revolving doors are produced with three or four wings in automatic or manual versions, usually with an automatic sliding door or hinged door alongside for emergency exit.

Which type of revolving door should I choose?

The standard series is the classic 3–4 wing door, the all-glass series offers architectural prestige, Duo provides high capacity and the manual series is a cost-effective motorless solution. The choice depends on traffic, diameter and budget. Large-diameter automatic series suit entrances with heavy daily footfall, while all-glass series stand out in boutique hotels and offices. Entrance width and ceiling height are measured during the site survey.

What is a typical revolving door diameter?

The common internal diameter range for revolving doors is 1600–3800 mm. Medium diameters are preferred at hotel, office and hospital entrances, while larger diameters can be specified for shopping malls and airport terminals. The right diameter depends on peak-hour throughput, luggage or shopping trolley traffic and the size of the entrance lobby.

Do revolving doors save energy?

Yes, a revolving door creates a permanent airlock between inside and outside on the “always open, always closed” principle, reducing heating and cooling costs. It also limits the entry of dust, exhaust fumes and noise. Because it prevents the stack effect on windy façades, it is especially preferred in high-rise buildings.

Are revolving doors wheelchair accessible?

Automatic revolving doors have a slow-speed mode, so wheelchair users can pass through safely. However, for barrier-free access it is recommended to integrate an automatic sliding door next to the revolving door. This combination helps meet accessibility requirements and provides additional escape width in an emergency.
